can anyone help

also when i game on steam it somewhat doesnt show my gpu working and also my audio just stops working. only happens when playing games on steam.. I have Intel Core Ultra 7 155H cpu with Intel Arc IGPU with 32 gb of ddr5 ram.

also my kernel is 6.17.0‑35
but ai says thats bad as my arc igpu is unstable with it and it recommends me to switch back to 6.9.x or 6.8.x , should i do it?

Hello and welcome,
you can try to disable GPU acceleration in Brave

  • Open Brave > Settings > System
  • Toggle off "Use hardware acceleration"
  • Restart Brave
  • If freezing stops, it confirms the GPU issue

And also switch to Xorg:

  • Logout
  • At the login screen, click your username (don't enter password)
  • Click the gear icon in the bottom right
  • Select "Zorin Desktop on Xorg"

Hello, i disabled gpu acceleration.. It hasnt crashed till now but it still can as it used to crash Randomly in hourly intervals after reboot. Also what is Xorg?

it's a Display Protocol, Zorin have 2, Wayland and Xorg (X11), but with Zorin 18.1 Wayland is really not a good choice, so try to switch to Xorg and test

oh, will it affect/boost my gaming or pc performance?

It will not and maybe fix your freeze problem

Ok thx will try it out!

And I can add, If you didn't do it, disable secure boot in your BIOS if you don't have dual boot

oh i alr did, i completely switched from windoes to zorin and left secure boot on disabled mode.. zorin has been better but the random freezes kinda pmo.. gaming wise, roblox runs will on 120 fps on max settings but din used to on windoes.. so thats a W, only issue is Game like The Finals which idk why but i think gpu is not being used. I Think i should raise this as a separate issue

So with Xorg do you have any freeze ? for now it is the question, but for games I suggest to open a new topic as you said

no freezes for now, but one issue is xorg kinda feels slow. issue was fixed it was brave crashing/freezing my pc, but xorg kinda makes my system feel slow. Ill try it one more time just for confirmation.

just checked xorg is worse for me, it is slow and there is screen tear..

Is Fractional Scaling in Settings>Displays active? Is Steam installed as Flatpak or APT Package?

I would think, it could be worth a Try to use a newer Kernel that 6.17 and not an older one.

Because You use an iGPU: How much RAM did You give it in BIOS?

Hello!, Yes Fractional Scaling is enabled but for my laptop monitor.. its disabled on my Monitor. Steam is intalled as a APT package. Idk how much ram is there in BIOS...

Then try it with disabled Fractional Scalling to check if it helps. Might be a bit uncomfordable but to check if it is the Reason, it is neccessary.

Do You used the Packages from the Zorin Repo's or did You downloaded it from the Steam Website?

You should check that. When there is only given less RAM, You could increase it and see if it helps.

Ok lemme try to disable it..

i downloaded from zorin's repo/software store

how to check the ram?

hello, i tried without fractional scale, it did not help

That, You should find in BIOS. Unfortunately, You will have to search a bit. It isn't really unified how the Option is called. If You have a Search Function in BIOS, starting with iGPU would be a good first Start.
