.Net 4.6 installed, not recognised when trying to install AGS?

Hi. I recently tried to install Adventure Game Studio (AGS) on Zorin OS 17. However the installer states that it needs .Net 4.6 or higher installed.

I installed .Net 4.6 and later 4.8, rebooted, but the AGS installer still gives me the message that I need to install .Net 4.6 or higher before it can continue the installation, then redirects me to Micro$oft's website to install .Net.

I have the latest updates of Wine, Bottles and Winetricks installed.

So I can't check this until I get home, but some programs will be fussy whether you select .NET to install or the (and i'm paraphrasing here) .netDesktop ? It's not strictly just .net that some programs require.

Unfortunately I don't have anymore ways to help you currently at work. I can take a look later and see if I can get more info for you, unless someone else can jump in here.

I downloaded the offline installer both times

Just testing this out, seems to be working for me. What I did was install the EXE through bottles (I used the flatpak version). After the install there's three "programs" I can run:

  • ags-help
  • AGSEditor
  • AGS Forums

Once it was installed, I clicked "Dependencies" until I found dotnet46, then installed. After that was done, it was up and running successfully.
