New Lenovo laptop with Zorin 16 can't drive a printer

So this WiFi signal I'm using is the computer/printer talking to each other, correct? That's what I think is happening. I'm not sure what username and password that would be. It's not the Spectrum WiFi signal we're worried about is it? There's a password generated by the printer but I don't have a username on this computer.

If using WiFi-direct, yes - you won't have internet with that connection.

The user name / password will be your current logged in user / pass combination - you can see what current user you're using in terminal with whoami.

The one used to log into Zorin with - even if you have an auto-login set, there is still a password involved.

OK, I'm in. I noticed that appsocket HP jetdirect wasn't checked on my way through. Should that be checked?

You could try it, just to test with - if nothing comes of it you could just jump back in and disable it through the options again. Could also try IPP or LDP being newer stuff. I'm not exact on what all support the HP appsocket encompasses.

For uninstalling the previous drivers / software - do you remember what all you did install? I know the IJ stuff was one - probably wanna keep that one, unless it's not being used.

But, if CUPS has the right driver version and all, that should be all you need.

I think we can log this as a success. I've been using the WiFi direct option to send Libre documents and photos off the internet to the printer. Thanks

Swarfendor's post is where things started to shake loose but I threw every suggestion against the wall to see if it stuck and appreciate all the responses. My little printer is working well now with it's own WiFi signal and it's easy to navigate.
Thanks to all.

Are you able to identify which post could be marked as "solution" ?
