Hello:
Considering that there is less than a year left for the release of a new version of Ubuntu LTS, does anyone know when Zorin Os 18 will be released? I remember that Zorin Os 17 was very criticized because it appeared in December, months before the release of Ubuntu LTS.
Regarding the above, it should be added that it would be optimal for Zorin to release the new version weeks before Windows 10 support expires.
Greetings.
Zorin OS 18 is tentatively planned for launch in the 2nd half of 2025.
Which works great for me! Support has ran out for Zorin OS 16, so I'll be needing that OS 18 as soon as it releases. If OS 18 came out sometime soon, that would be great, Sips coffee
The information published by the developers was known to me.
My curiosity goes to the side of a publication of the developers, following the anniversary, in which they indicated that changes were coming. In this sense I thought I understood that they would incorporate more people to the team.
I love Zorin, more than Linux Mint, and while they have improved their presence on Distrowatch in terms of popularity, the delay in releasing a new version after the last Ubuntu LTS still works against them.
I recall that Zorin 17 was released in December 2023, a few months before a new Ubuntu LTS version was released. Moreover, some youtubers have stopped recommending it as the best choice for newcomers because of its delay in releasing a new version.
For all of the above, and what was published in the blog, I had thought that they were going to modify their organization in the sense of incorporating more staff, open to voluntary contributions from contributors, improve communication with the community, something that Linux MInt does very well.
I have said the same time and time again. Still no monthly or even quarterly blog.
I had never heard of this before.
This may have been massively helpful when I was randomly intalling and trying half a dozen distros to see what felt right.
