Newly installed clock app won't open in Core 18

Budgie output:

I found this one already installed - is it the one you're referring to?

Can anyone explain how to use the "Selection" option in the above screenshot? When I click it, it doesn't allow me to select an area with my cursor, and I don't see another option. Also, what does the "show pointer" option do?

(Btw, do I need to post a new topic for this?)

The removal of these can be done with

sudo apt remove --purge budgie-control-center budgie-control-center-data plymouth-theme-ubuntu-budgie-logo plymouth-theme-ubuntu-budgie-text

Worked like a charm - I'm free & clear of Budgie now. Thank you!

Yes, that is the app I was referring to.
"Show pointer" shows the cursor on the screenshot (but on my virtual machine i
sometimes the cursor isn't shown even when the function is enabled).

When you have clicked on selection, choose the time delay and/or the pointer option, then click on "take screenshot". Now you can select the area.
I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you.
This screenshot app isn't preinstalled on Zorin 18. Maybe it came with your budgie desktop. (Edit: Budgie desktop brings with BudgieScreenshot tool, not gnome-screenshot).

I would try to delete the installed one version (if it is still shown on your system) and then install it fresh with

sudo apt install gnome-screenshot
