Nitroshare install

Hi

I have 5 laptops. 2 with Windows 11, 2 with Zorin 16 (32 bit) and 1 with Zorin 17.

I have installed Nitroshare file sharing software on the first four successfully but cannot find a way to do it on Zorin 17.

Has anyone been able to do this? I am very new to Linux but believe that there is no version of Nitroshare for Zorin 17 as yet. Can anyone confirm that to be the case?

Thanks in advance

nitroshare on zorin 17 should work with

sudo apt update

sudo apt install nitroshare

Thanks 14nd but all I get is

E: Unable to locate package nitroshare

On their site they have instructions for installing it on anything ubuntu 16.04 +, but it's weird since you should be able to just install through the terminal like you were told, but you could try what they have in their website information:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:george-edison55/nitroshare
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nitroshare

This would get you a more up to date version of the software anyway, so it's worth a shot.

Thanks applecheeks37 but all this gives is the words In Release after every line and that access to the PPA is automatically refused

Also states the repository does not have a release file

Could you possibly send some screenshots along with this? wouldn't hurt to tkae a look. What you're describing sounds like something I've seen before but I can't be sure yet.

Sorry I was able to copy in html only so it abbreviated some lines. If this is not good enough let me know

Found a way to screenshot.

Ok so i'm looking into the PPA and it seems like the releases there are from most recently 2017. It's very possible that that program is no longer supported or being maintained? Someone else would have to comment on that.

If this is the case, you could always use Warpinator. It's a Linux Mint made program made for doing exactly what Nitroshare does/did? There's an unnofficial windows release of it, and I believe it's available as either a flatpak or appimage, possibly even in the default repositories of Ubuntu (although that part I'm not sure about).

If anyone else has any ideas, please feel free to budge in.

EDIT: Also you can remove the PPA that you added by going to the "Software and Sources" application and finding PPAs in there and removing the ones that have been added that you don't want (if it ends up not working at all).

applecheeks37 thanks for your input. Tried Warpinator and Winpinator for Windows but there is no 32 bit support. Just looking for something that fits one and all and was hopeful that Nitroshare would be the one.

Minor point: Do you mean Zorin 15 (32bit) as since Z16 ZorinOS has been 64bit only. Typo?

Yes sorry
