No sound on Dell XPS 16 9640

No sound on Dell XPS 16 9640.

Is it no Sound at all or only on some Programs?
Did You checked if maybe the Sound is muted?
What is shown to You in Settings>Audio as Output Options?

Did You tried it with the Pulse Audio Volume Control Tool? It is a Tool for set up Audio Input and Output. You can install it in the Terminal with the Command:

sudo apt install pavucontrol

After the Installation open it and go to the Output Tab and the configuration Tab to look what sound Options You have and test them.

Another Thing: Does Your Machine run in Wayland or Xorg Mode? to check that go to Settings>ABout and look if there stands Wayland or X11. If there should stand Wayland, You could try it with switching to X11/Xorg.

To do that, go to the Login Screen (not the Lock Screen). Simply reboot for that. On the Login Screen click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It has to be appeared. When it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right Corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in and test if it works.

Are you useing a Dual-Boot System?
How are Your Hardware Specs?
Do You use built-in Speakers or external one's?
If external: How they are connected?

I have done a bit of websearching, using "Dell XPS 16 9640 soundcard Cirrus Logic CS42L43 Ubuntu 22.04". That is the soundcard that is listed for that Dell machine on their website. If yours is different please say.

Found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/DellXPS/comments/1b9ddhz/does_the_xps_16_intel_ultra_7_support_linux/

which led to this: Bug #2058691 “No sound card detected on the Dell xps 16 2024 (96...” : Bugs : firmware-sof package : Ubuntu

Seems may need kernel 6.9 (or higher) or that audo device.
So maybe OK when ZorinOS 17.3 appears.

There are posts here on the forum, that can help if you choose to upgrade the standard linux kernel to a later version, to see if that gets your audio working.

Yes, it has a cirrus sound card (the device is listed as 7 - Cirrus Logic XU in windows)

The device is not detected.
But I guess zabadabadoo found the issue in his post below.
