I just installed Zorin w/ dual boot with windows 11, everything worked fine during the installation except one thing : i cant configure wifi since Zorin doesnt recognize my wifi card (bluetooth doesnt work aswell). Can somebody help me ?
Are "SECURE BOOT" & "FAST BOOT" disabled in the BIOS? These can cause issues interfacing with hardware on Linux OS's, since they are primarily for Windows only.
Additionally, does your computer have an ethernet port? If it does, you can plug an ethernet cable between the modem and your computer, see if you can get internet. I use a wired connection cause its faster.
yep, they're disabled. I tried many things for 3-4 hours but still, didnt find any solution . My laptop doesnt have an ethernet port, but I managed to get internet with my phone through usb. Here some (maybe) useful informations :
lspci | grep -i network returned
Network controller: MEDIATEK Corp. Device 7902
lspci -nnk | grep -A3 Network returned
Network controller [0280]: MEDIATEK Corp. Device [14c3:7902]
DeviceName: WLAN
Subsystem: AzureWave Device [1a3b:5520]
Kernel modules: mt7921e
could you run an rfkill list
in terminal and show the results there? I just want to be sure nothings blocking it.
Mediatek has not released these drivers to the Linux Kernel team; Currently, no drivers are available for it.
From @Aravisian 's post, I guess your option would be to purchase a cheap Linux compatible USB WiFi/BT dongle.
Welcome to the Forum!
Beneath Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOs turn off Fast Start-Up in Windows, too.
Im not at home but I already ran this command and everything was fine, nothing was blocked
So I can't use WiFi on any Linux distrib untill they release the drivers ?
Yep, I think Im gonna do that Thanks for your help.
Yes, as aravisian said, I didn't take a close enough look at the model of wireless card. Unfortunately, until some drivers get included in a more recent kernel, I believe the card won't work. I believe even the most recent kernels don't have support for it yet.
I see, thanks for your help !
I tried, nothing changes
This adapter doesn't cost much, and it will add WIFI connectivity to your laptop, using a USB port.
Hope this helps!
I think @dawzz is looking for a WiFi+BT dongle, not just WiFi, but there are several of those WiFi+BT dongles available. Just need to check it is suitable for Linux as well as other OS.
