i am not getting the performace mode in my zorin os
i am using the
hp elitebook 745 g6
ryzen 5 pro 3500u
16gb of ddr4 ram
and raydeon vega 8
This function is not offered for all computers. It depends on the BIOS.
Same thing on an old Acer.
Have you tried updating the BIOS?
I am afraid of touching the BIOS... ![]()
When You don't have it, it isn't supported for Your Configuration.
but i think my configuration is good enough like ryzen 5 pro 3500u is a decent processor but why i am still not getting it
I'm not sure by this. I guess it depends on the Kernel and/or the Gnome Version. Or maybe Firmware. If I remember correctly, I had Fedora run for testing and there I had the Performance -Mode. On Debian 13, I didn't.
You could try that by Yourself, too. download Fedora, put it on a USB Stick, start it in Live Mode and see if You have the Performance Mode Option.
well i also have the plan for fedora in the future . so thanks for the advice
" The "Performance" power mode may be absent in Ubuntu 24.04 due to missing or misconfigured system components, or hardware limitations. The primary solution is to ensure the power-profiles-daemon package is installed, as it manages the power profiles in GNOME. Run the following command to install or reinstall it:
sudo apt install power-profiles-daemon
After installation, the "Performance" option should appear in the Power settings without requiring a reboot. If the option is still missing, verify the daemon is active:
powerprofilesctl list
This command lists available profiles, including "performance", "balanced", and "power-saver". If the profile is not listed, the issue might be hardware-specific. For instance, older CPUs like the AMD Athlon II may not support the "Performance" mode. In such cases, the mode cannot be enabled regardless of software configuration.
As an alternative, you can manually set the profile using the powerprofilesctl command:
sudo powerprofilesctl set performance
To ensure this setting persists after reboot, add the command to your startup applications or a system script. Additionally, if conflicting tools like TLP or cpufrequtils are installed, they may interfere with power profiles. Removing them and reinstalling power-profiles-daemon can resolve conflicts.
For systems with AMD processors, ensure the amd_pstate driver is in use, as it supports dynamic performance scaling. Check the current driver with:
powerprofilesctl
This will show the active profile and its associated CPU driver. If the driver is not amd_pstate , consider updating the kernel or checking BIOS settings.

This should come already preinstalled on Zorin 18. At least, it is preinstalled on my System:

Looking at the profile of @Piyu_Pika having joined on 3rd October I suspect they are running Zorin 17 not 18. The Ubuntu handbook link mentions both Ubuntu 22.04 (Zorin 17) and Ubuntu 24.04 (Zorin 18) in respect of this tool.
i switched to 18 few days ago
Have you checked after running the commands I posted earlier from my search?
yes it's only listing the balance and power saver only
