Nothing Works

I just installed Zorin on my laptop, choosing the delete windows option. However, when it opened and I was presented with the "Connect your online accounts" option, every time I tried to connect something email, I would get an error message such as: "Error resolving "imap.proton.me". Temporary failure in name resolution" It didn't matter whether I tried with my Microsoft account, or Google account. I always get an error message.

So then I tried using Brave to login to my various accounts. But every page I try I get the same error message: "This site can't be reached. search. (insert website name) DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem. DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE" Hitting the "Reload" button or refresh icon makes no difference to the result. It doesn't matter the site I try, none will open.

Then I tried the "Software Updater" After several long periods of a crawling progress bar, I end up with a message such as: "Failed to download repository information. Check your internet connection." Upon checking my internet connection, it shows I am always connected to my Wifi. However, the WIfi icon has a "?" in the middle of it.

So, basically I have no Windows installation, but a Zorin installation that does absolutely nothing! I had to use my friends Windows computer just to post this, s my laptop won't even connect to the Zorin support/help site.

Can anyone help me make this thing work? I don't need (or want) a laptop shaped paperweight!

Hello,

Are you behind a proxy or firewall? Is it wireless or ethernet also?
Is secure and fast boot in BIOS disabled?

Can you ping through (terminal):

ping -c 5 google.com

Thanks for your prompt response. My apologies, but I was the idiot on this occassion.

Once I had typed it out loud, it made sense to me. The "?" in the middle of the wifi symbol was the key. It wasn't the install. The wifi although highlighted, wasn't actually connected (hence the "?"). A double click connected the wifi, and obviously solved my problems.
