A: So if i update my pc with software updater my pc gonna die n go to white screen of death [W.S.D].
And I go into my Live usb and do time shift and get back my pc I stopped doing the updates. But now I have to install nvidia drivers right?
B: So I got to terminal and then install from sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kelebek333/nvidia-legacy (cause my gpu too old to exist, i had to do the hard way which worked for me in zorin lite)
Then i do this sudo apt install nvidia-340 xorg-modulepath-fix
So the result?
after the boot I get the [W.S.D] Specs (cause idk what to write here) :
Motherboard : GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S1
RAM : 4 GB + 2 GB
HDD : 320 GB + 500 GB
Graphics Card : Nvidia GT 210
and the only reason I am updating my graphics is to change my resolution from 1600x900 to 1600x820 (my moniter broken so to avoid dead pixels)
You may need to downgrade your kernel as well as the Nvidia driver.
The later kernel is necessary for later hardware.
The later kernel is not going to contain bugfixes for your pc or anything. It would actually be more likely to have regressions.
Really, the 5.4 or even 5.8 kernel would be more than high enough.
Hi @AllenGXM - what @Aravisian is saying that you should use older Nvidea drivers due to the fact your GPU is not supported by Nvidea anymore (due to old age in laymans terms basically) so software updates and patches (latest) will probably cause more issues/no guarantee to work properly. This also includes your Kernel/OS version is what he is referring (Linux)
I would suggest using Zorin Lite for such older computers as Zorin Core and Zorin Pro is more supported for medium to latest hardware devices.
