I've seen that an update to the 550 driver has been released.
Anyone know how long it might be before it's available through the ubuntu repository?
I have just installed it direct from nvidia and seems to be working fine so far, but obv better if using the ubuntu version.
So if you installed it, why worry about the repo’s ? You already mastered the manual installation. It wont change anything (repo vs manual). Driver will be the same 
Not sure, I just thought it might be 'better'/more compatible from the repo. I can't say I fully understand what goes into the distro-specific builds etc, still learning a lot!
