Nvidia driver support

Hey there,
I've been using Zorin 16 for a long time and wanted to switch to 17.
But I somewhere read that Zorin 17 will support Nvidia drivers only till version 560 or something? Is that true?
I got a quite powerful new graphics card and do not want to bottleneck it because of this...
Thanks!

Untrue.

Zorin OS 17 introduced Wayland as Default.
Wayland by itself lacks Nvidia support. However Nvidia users will automaticcally use X11 (standard) windowing, resolving the issue.
This may be why someone might make that claim... though it is odd they would choose the 560 driver which is the next major release for Nvidia drivers (I am on the 555 currently.)

Thank you! That means we will have X11 for now. That's actually good. Are there any plans to switch to Wayland when its stable?

Zorin OS has already switched to Wayland as default as of Zorin OS 17.
However, Wayland is what lacks support - Nvidia. Wayland lacks support across a broad range of things... So it is up to the Wayland Developers to (try) to fix these things. It's been over a decade, so I wouldn't hold my breath... In the meantime, they have it patched up by using XWayland, which uses X11... which defeats the entire purpose using Wayland.

There is made some Progress about the Nvidia-Wayland Situation but unfortunately it is at this Point not relevant for Zorin. With Explicit Sync should the Usage of Nvidia be a better Experience. The Problem is: This only works in the Combination of Driver AND Wayland.

To get the Driver is one Thing. But to have the right Desktop Version is another. It is integrated in Plasma 6.1 and Gnome 46.1. So, for Zorin at this Time it is unfortunately not working because we have Gnome 43.9 and (in the Repo's) Plasma 5.24.
