if you want to block one of the drivers, it's better to do - dpkg to fix the drivers, then - resume.
then go to update and select the driver, it will be much more correct with clean packages without tails.
log in you can immediately go look at the settings/update drivers everything should be fine.
you just had an ARMHF error = 404 for some reason so the drivers were not installed.

I figured out it was Root. I can now access my desktop again. I still can't launch any videogames, but NVIDIA drivers show on "Additional drivers" on "Software & Updates". However, if I try to install any of the drivers I get this error message
try it if something goes wrong you will already know how to put it back you won't break anything!
I'm glad that at least you were able to log in, maybe you had a conflict with some old drivers, I don't know why but you were looking for an update for mobile phones or raspberry pi
if the system sees the drivers now, it's worth trying 100% to put something..

The fact that you already have the drivers is a victory, as soon as there is a connection you can install them.

I don't understand only one thing, either you had other drivers in the system that were not installed to the end or why the kernel refused to see the new drivers, since nouveau which in the kernel itself we couldn't do anything with them!
why the kernel didn't switch from nouveau to new drivers is a mystery.
These are when You use it for Server and not for Home PC's.
Then try it with installing the Driver with:
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-595 nvidia-dkms-595
to get the 595 Driver. If You want a different Driver Version, simply replace the 595 with the Driver Number, You want use. For Example 580 or 550.
P.S.: You should maybe wait a bit to do that because at the Moment are some Issues with Updates because of a Hackerattack to Canonical.
So it doesn't work, yesterday I tried when the system installed the broken beta driver 595, to change it to 590, but the kernel prioritizes 595, and for some reason it installed no more there were still options 570 and lower.
there was no 590 or 580 which are the most stable today.
with a 5080 video card he clearly doesn't use the pc as a server, especially when talking about games.
You install the 590 driver and you get 595. This is 100% because I personally checked it yesterday.

I was able to update to 595. I haven't played anything to check if everything is fine, but I am able to launch video games with no problem so far. Thanks for all the help!
I've been having similar issues to the OP - all my games run slow (both on Steam and ATL launcher) and the displays are acting funny.
I booted into XORG which resolved the issue with maximised Windows not displaying properly.
I got this message when I checked to see if the drivers were installed:

It looks like the drivers are installed, but they just aren't performing properly - which makes me wonder if the issue is that the kernel is prioritising the drivers elsewhere.
I have Windows, although it is installed on a separate hard drive - not a partition.
I've emailed Zorin support as I'm on Pro - I'm hoping they get back to me soon.
To be honest, I had problems with 595 because it was still like a beta 1 release.
I didn't install 595 because it was too new and experimental - and you never know what to expect with the latest editions.
I've disabled Canonical updates, did some updates, although they didn't seem to be for my graphics driver. Unless of course, it's updated to 595 which has somehow escaped my notice.
The drivers appear to have worked!
When rebooting I got the message 'is already bound to nouveu' repeated instead of the white dashes streaked across the screen, and when Zorin restarted, for the first time since this began - the monitors are the right way around, (so me left screen is '1' again and my right screen is '2') and the login appeared on the left instead of the right screen.
There was just one hitch - I launched Steam and launched a game, although the system seemed to freeze up, and I couldn't scroll on the system monitor.
I've rebooted, and I went to see if there were any other updates. There weren't in software centre, although the software app listed 12 apps which needed updating. I've updated those, and I'm about to reboot - wish me luck.
