Well that is why they have different distributions. Ubuntu is not forcing anything. It is what they offer. I suppose Debian is forcing Debian packages and Fedora is forcing RPM and Arch is forcing Arch packages. Oh, and Fedora forces Flatpaks too I suppose.
On Ubuntu you can install Flatpaks anytime you want. Please stop the drama over Ubuntu. It is their distribution to develop for free the way they want to develop it at no cost to those users that choose to use it. The freedom of choice.
I think it is quite a stretch to call that post "drama".
Canonical not only forced Snap, but broke their pledge to not set Snap as default, then later lied about it.
Users holding Canonical accountable for that type of behavior will never be "drama". It is holding them accountable and no, companies cannot produce a product however they want. They can only produce based on what users and customers want. When companies get forceful, the users absolutely 100% should speak up about it fearlessly.
No. I am just choosing to ignore the drama about “communities” that think they have full control of a distribution. Zorin recently decided to possibly end Xfce support in the future - it is their right. The community can express their opinion and ultimately, the Zorin developers can decide to oblige or not and some community members will be unhappy for one reason or another. Same is true for Ubuntu. Again, no one is coercing anyone - you are free to do what you want including expressing your opinion.
Clear?
Accusing members of inciting "drama" for voicing their feedback of GnuLinux and its distributions will always be an effort in failure. No one is forcing you to use any Distro, nor is anyone forcing you to read feedback you do not care for.
You do not get to apply force of your own by using belittling speech to halt feedback you do not care for. That is not the action of "ignoring 'drama'".
A free and open community and forum includes the ability to give opinions, feedback and a voice to the User. At no time should members engage in elitism or pressure users into conformity using derision in such a manner.
You can consider this tangent closed at this point. Any member can have a moment of thoughtlessness or lack of consideration from time to time. All you can do is take a moment to think it over, accept personal responsibility and apply beneficial changes to improve self-expression.
You are permitted civil opinions that contribute to members.
But if you really just wish to defend derision, derogatory comments and continued argumentative behavior - I can assign you some time off to reflect on your forum behavior and treatment of members if you like.
For now, I will split these tangent off-topic ramblings to a splinter thread.
My opinion is that Ubuntu has a right to do what they want. But I apologize for my opinion not being the same as yours. I will make a more pronounced effort to agree with you from now on.
This type of spin and distortion is equal to your concept that others you disagree with must withhold their opinions from your view, lest you belittle them by accusing them of drama.
I am closing this tangent - because the only other option is a Member Suspension. If you prefer the suspension; Let me know.
