And it's immutable! I'm sure this will be Aravisian and Swarfendor's next distribution.
Oh most definitely ... not!
But I don't think that this is something for the common Userbase. I mean it is not directly a Distro. It is more a ... how can I say that ... the Ability to built a Distro in a modular Principle - of Course with systemd.
You can't choose your family. But you can choose your distro!
I'm not entirely sure I agree. I definitely understand why you're saying that, absolutely. But consider: many distributions are based on other distributions. Zorin is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian. If Zorin were to create an installer that gave you a choice of using Zorin customizations on an Ubuntu base, or Zorin customizations on a Fedora base, would Zorin stop being a distribution? We already have many distributions that support different DEs, which are the most visible element of a Linux desktop. I don't think it's disqualifying for a distribution to offer different bases.
That said, depending on how it's implemented, I agree with you that it's not going to have much traction with end users. Bazzite is an immutable, container based distribution, built on Fedora. It's possible to customize it despite immutability by generating your own image. That's great and all, but managing it is so complex I very much doubt more than the smallest handful of people ever would.
Maybe the Way I said that, wasn't well worded. My Point is: It isn't a finished System, where You download an ISO, put it on a USB Stick, start it and install it.
It is neccessary to built und configure the System and then make an Image to install it.
Just reminded me of what my Dad once said;
"God gave us our relatives, thank God we can choose our friends!"
