As Zorin 18 was just released, I wonder how the media world is receiving it.
Let us try to have here a collection of recent links to articles that give review.

Overall positive. Highlights the easy to use and easy installation, the Windows-look-alike, the connection to Android
Verdict of writer:
In our opinion, Zorin OS is not a Windows killer, but an interesting alternative for users who do not want to switch to Windows 11. Especially for private use, even the free version of the distribution offers everything you need for home use. But you'll have to find out for yourself whether it works for you. Since Zorin OS performs well on older hardware, it could be a good place to start. Why not try it out on a discarded laptop or desktop PC?
Germany, Oct., 14th:
To sum up shortly the article cited by @Ponce-De-Leon above:
Zorin OS 18 once again demonstrates that Linux is no longer a niche solution. Anyone looking to move away from Windows will find a stable, modern, and familiar system here—one that doesn’t require new hardware and thus offers a genuine alternative for the post-Windows 10 era.

Not exclusive on Zorin rather about the Win10 EoL service by Microsoft, nevertheless mention Zorin after Ubuntu and Mint as third option to consider.
Highlighting the security, the option can-look-like-Windows, easy installation, and frugality (not needing the newest hardware) of it

Writer does overall good job, but is nagging a bit too much about the difference between core/pro version and the high price of the later
From what I've seen with the free version, the operating system is very easy to use, especially as an ex-Windows user, and I believe you'll have a ton of fun experimenting with it.
I read the entire article and I found his comments valid and honest. Although, it is a bit misleading. he states it is a "One time purchase" and this can give the incorrect impression that all releases of Pro will be free.
I notice that a lot of users think cause they got PRO, that it means they can get all new OS releases of PRO, without having to pay again. I don't understand where their backwords thinking comes from, when has this ever been a thing?
Anyone who's actually lived long enough, to have used all versions of Windows knows, that every new Windows OS, cost money to buy, and you couldn't get it free at all. The only exception to this, is Windows11 doesn't cost money, cause Microsoft minds your data and sells it instead.
People need to get it in their heads, PRO costs money, its like a donation to the dev's, which you get added layouts, and many APPS already loaded for your convenience. A Pro license, doesn't mean you get all PRO versions for free now.
I honestly think that some people are just trying to play games, Reddit style games, getting PRO for free illegitimately kind of games. I'm not so easily fooled, and there was such a case, and Zorin Dev's had to issue a legal take down on a site that was hosting PRO for free.
My usual example is:
If you bought a 2022 Toyota Tundra, do you expect you can get the 2025 Toyota Tundra for free?
It began a long time ago with the invention of Radio.
Public Broadcasting, in its time, had no method to send a bill to anyone that listened to that new invention at home.
But advertisers were willing to pay top-dollar to be featured on radio and a new method took flight: The listeners (end users) became the product.
And for a long time, it worked.
But greed is always the Creep Factor and it will always creep for more profits.
With the advent of not only the internet, but ignorant use of it combined with new algorithms for fitting groups into marketable niches, advertising took on a new flavor. Target Advertising became much more effective; and aggressive.
And ensuring that the public using it stayed controlled and generally lacking in knowledge was critical to its success.
Using words like "easy", "simple", "convenient" and "effortless", computer use appealed to end users as getting what they wanted without a lot of work.
And less work meant less control over their own devices.
There have been shifts and resistance to this. Privacy concerns, selling Privacy as a Marketable Idea and a public fed up with being targeted. Sadly, the complacent outnumber the restless.
And in GnuLinux, lacking funding like the big corporations get, Linux Companies began looking for sources of revenue that are not the End User. Like Canonical cutting deals with Amazon or Red Hat with IBM.
We are still under that influence, being guided and controlled.
Now we see the same words. "Polished. "Easy". "Modern." Appealing to us, not as customers but as products.
And we keep falling for it.
well, just by telling you that even Microsoft has indexed an article talking about the topic, promoting Zorin OS haha
Zorin OS ensures that when you make a switch from Windows 10, you’re not sacrificing comfort or performance. You get a familiar interface and the same ease of use, and break free from restrictive hardware requirements.
This OS is excellent for reviving an old laptop and also serves well as a daily driver. In many ways, it feels like the ideal Windows 10 continuation. It's familiar in areas that matter and flexible where you’ll need it. Zorin OS is a top Linux recommendation.
This release feels to me like a rare treat; this is something that makes sense in modern times, and also happens to be user-friendly from the moment a user fresh from Windows or macOS stumbles upon it. It’s clean in the places it counts and opinionated without being overbearing — precisely what a “best” general-purpose Linux should strive for.
