Open Core and Zorin problem

I had a three boot system, OSX, Linux Mint and Zorin. My version of OSX 10.6 was dying with many sites refusing the old browsers on it so I thought I would try an Open Core upgrade.

The problem is I see the EFI boot for Zorin but when I select it nothing happens. Mint works fine. I need to re-install the boot thing without overwriting my data etc.

FWIW I hate the open core "Upgrade" iPhoto does not work, neither does iMovie, Find my Friend and a few more. What does work though is I have the latest version of MS Office and Slack, but the machine is very slow.

You could create a bootable USB Stick with Zorin and start that. Then choose the 'Try Zorin' Mode and use the Program Boot Repair. That is - like the Name says - for repairing the Boot Stuff.

Thanks that is exactly what I was looking for but...it didn't work. Here is the error message displayed:-

Error: NVram is locked (Linuxmint not found in efibootmgr). Please report this message to boot.repair@gmail.com

A new file (/var/log/boot-repair/20241002_211140/Boot-Info_20241002_2111.txt) will open in your text viewer.

Any Ideas?

Hello. No comment on the Zorin part because I haven't been here long enough and don't dual boot anyway.

But on the OCLP, what did you upgrade to? Be sure to read the notes for issues with your model. For example Sequoia in my opinion from the notes is not quite there yet for my model, so I'm sticking with Sonoma until it gets sorted. They always work on it to resolve as many issues as they can. I don't need Sequoia yet anyway. You might try Ventura if your machine is very slow. Maybe even Monterrey, not sure if your browser would be grumbled at by sites on that though. I love OCLP Sonoma on my machine, but I might not notice if some things don't work, as I only use that machine for the latest version of Xcode, text editing and an occasional screen record.

Anyway hope you get your Mac sorted. They're beautiful machines. I don't suppose you could just run Mint or Zorin on the whole thing if the macOS goes south?

If I understand that right, Boot Repair doesn't find Your Linux Mint Boot Stuff. So, maybe it would be good to make that again, but with Linux Mint on the Stick. And it seems that it has Problems to set it up with EFI.

Okay, let's check something. When you are in Zorin or Linux Mint go to boot>efi>EFI and look what folders are inside. You will have to type in Your Password for this Path.
