OpenRGB was working and now does not launch

Got a bit of a problem with the Flatpak OpenRGB.

I was working great yesterday and this morning will not launch.

Things tried:

ran from terminal and no launch and no error:

flatpak run org.openrgb.OpenRGB

flatpak run org.openrgb.OpenRGB --loglevel 6

Uninstalled and reinstalled from the software app.

Ran Timeshift to restore to a few days ago.

Dual booted into Win 11 to make sure lighting worked there and it did - no problems.

Does anyone have any clue?

Thanks!

flatpak going totally silent like that usually means it dies b4 any log line.

id try:
-flatpak run -v org.openrgb.OpenRGB 2>&1 | tee /tmp/openrgb.log
-journalctl --user -f in another terminal while u launch it
-flatpak override --user --device=all org.openrgb.OpenRGB
-flatpak override --user --filesystem=host org.openrgb.OpenRGB

then launch again. if the .deb / appimage from openrgb.org still works, the flatpak sandbox is blocking usb. paste the last bit of that -v log if its still blank.

I fixed it!

I checked the logs under Utilities and saw:

traps: openrgb[4195] general protection fault error:0 in libfontconfig.so.1.16.0

Did some research and Googled and found solution:

  1. Clear Your Fontconfig Cache

sudo fc-cache -r -v

  1. Clear the OpenRGB App Cache / Settings

mv ~/.config/OpenRGB ~/.config/OpenRGB.bak

After running those two commands OpenRGB now works!

I have moved this thread from Feedback to General Help.
I have also marked your post above as :white_check_mark:Solution to maybe help others.

If you disagree with those changes, feel free to change back to as was. Zab
