Partitioning problem

Hi, this topic has probably been discussed thousands of times. I'm having trouble partitioning my hard drive for installing Zorin OS 18. I have a 500GB drive and I'd like to partition 100GB for the system and the rest for my data. Could someone please show me a step-by-step process, preferably with a picture, or something that would work? I'm trying to figure out what to do and I can't seem to figure it out.

Theoretically, You wouldn't need an extra Partiton for Your Data. When You use the whole Drive, the whole Space can be used for everything. So, You could simply use the ''erase disk'' Option during the Installation to let the Installer make all.

But if You want to make it manually, choose the Option ''Something else''. There You have to create 3 Partitions:

  1. An EFI-Partition with ... let's say 300mb
  2. For Your System use the Mount Point / and format it to ext4
  3. For the Rest of the Drive choose the Mount Point /home and format it to ext4. this would be Your seperate home Partition where You can place Your Pictures, Music, Videos whatever.

If you really want a separate partition just install Zorin and let it do it's thing. After it's installed you can use gparted (linux version of windows disk manager) to shrink the end of the disk to give yourself 100GB to make another ext4 partition.
