The same issue happened on 3 machines here after update. The only 17.3 system that didn't experience the issue was a tower running a TV monitor 50 inch, which was the "education" install.
After the latest update, my graphics stack is ruined.
I have been troubleshooting my own machine all day - and am no closer to a resolution.
I am probably going to spend the rest of this afternoon reinstalling (not sure if Zorin OS or not).
I can believe you - that the latest update has an issue.

I had the problem that my password was denied over and over on the log in screen after my computer went into standby yesterday. but that was fixed by just restarting. not sure if that has anything to do with your problem but more info is more info.
Crossing my fingers that Zorin18 does not have such problems.
Well, It is the distro this happened on.
But it did the same on MInt 22.
I did get to the resolution on it.
Good to know there was a resolution. I read your link about it but it is beyond my current level. I will close this and mark it accordingly. I did a friends update on 17.3 core and the system held up afterwards, so very happy.
