This kind of shocked me! When I woke up my PC in the morning and I typed the password. For a split second it changed from dots to plain text when I pressed enter and I could read it! This seems like quite a bit privacy issue! I could not simulate it when I suspended and woke it again though... maybe something happens after it sleeps for longer time?

So, You typed in Your Password and it were hided with Dots like it should. When typed in, You pressed Enter and then it was visible, correct?
This is probably a Wayland thing. The UI operates with a visibility=false flag.
Wayland races ahead and renders the screen for GDM before that false state is read and applied.
