PDF Rendering and Editing in LibreOffice Draw

In my attempt to move away from big tech I have dropped adobe and begun adopting LibreOffice products. However, when trying to redact PDFs the file will not display correctly from the PDF viewer when in Draw. Text in particular is distorted and out of field boundaries.

Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed? Does it need to have additional fonts downloaded and if so how do I do that?

It could be a Font Issue if the PDF File uses Microsoft Fonts. You could install them and test if it works better. You have 2 Options to do that:

  1. Only install the Fonts with the Terminal Command sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

  2. You install it with a Package of some additional Audio Codecs with the Terminal Command sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras

After You have installed one or the other, make a Reboot of Your System and then look if it works better.

Libre Office Draw is a graphics application, not a text application. It views pdfs as images, it is not a pdf Editor. You have two choices, both paid for, but there is a new free application posted by @zenzen here:
