People can hear themselves while talking on my computer

Hi!

I need some help with a problem that's been happening since a while now.
I'm a therapist student and I meet with clients online. I can hear them without any problem on my end, but when they talk they hear themselves taking back, which can be annoying.

When I restart my computer the problem stop, but after a while, it comes back. I have no idea why or what I do on my end that makes the problem come back. I noticed that when I listen to voice message on facebook on my computer sometimes the sounds cuts for a micro second at 2 seconds and when that happens the bug came back. But it never happened on youtube or spotify.

Also there's no difference between having headphones, my computer sound coming from speaker or having the inner microphone and speaker of the computer.

Anyone can help me troubleshoot the problem? Unless you have an idea for a fix?

It could be an issue at their end?:

Open a terminal session Ctrl+Alt+T then type

alsamixer

Hit F5 to show all sound channels

Find [Loopback mode]

Try that disabled or enabled and see if any effect.

Also check your mic channels. If more than one mic is open then it may be picking up sound from speakers.

You may need to do some experimenting as some sound problems can be difficult to track down.

Thanks!
Not sure where is Loopback mode, here's what I have

No. That is not showing up on your system.

Have you tried playing around with Auto-Mute settings. i.e. trial and error, change and see effect, change back if none.

Out of interest, does alsamixer F6 list any other sound cards/devices?

By automute you mean playing with the column 6 in the second picture?

This is what shows up with F6, I'm not even sure if it's one sound card or the same?

Yes. "Auto-Mut" channel is Automute.
I also see you have just the one soundcard: HDA Intel PCH/ Realtek ALC257.
