I've now been using Zorin OS for about a month. I'm exactly a Linux newbie some light dabbling with Ubuntu back in 2008 ![]()
I knew going in that Apple's (Silicon) products wouldn't disappear yet, and that eternal curse word Adobe ![]()
- Pretty decent UI out of the box, big thumbs up
- Photoshop simply isn't replaceable yet (2026). I'm eagerly awaiting Affinity's products for the Debian side. For lighter work, GIMP and Krita do the job.
- Video editing works brilliantly because I use Resolve extensively for work—it runs smoothly. However, installation required a tutorial, (and I understand my machine is old) with drivers and such being challenging. (Resolve requires a specific driver: nvidia-driver-580 proprietary) 2026. It would be wonderful if there were some app that converts to deb format and handles drivers very easily

- Lightroom and Capture One are significantly ahead of Darktable, especially with Fujifilm, Leica, and Panasonic RAW file handling. Some relief is coming from the Resolve side for this too.
- Plus points for all basic computer usage—Nautilus works like a charm, the macOS-like "Preview" is great! PDF files open, Gmail, Proton—all good.
- Next on the hunt is an AirDrop replacement.
- And finally, I can't believe how ready-made Zorin feels. I don't understand why people still use Windows or even macOS for basic use. Huge thumbs up!
I will buy the Pro version just to support this project.
