Using ZorinPro latest update on StarLabs desktop machine for 3 months, this just started a week ago or so. I tried a couple pair of inexpensive speakers, both of which initially and for a couple of months have worked just fine. Now upon cold turn on, I get popping sounds from the speakers until I log in from the login screen. I did earlier find the article about popping noise and followed the terminal input prompts which helped (the speakers were popping throughout the use of the machine) now pops only upon turn on. Anything additional I should do? thank you
How are the Speakers connected? Cable or wireless?
If it are Cables: Did you checked if the Cables are pluged in fitting (sounds like a stupid Question, I know; but sometimes it can be such a little thing)?
If it seperate Cables: Did You tried another Pair of Cables?
Hello, both sets of speakers are older inexpensive cable only speakers that worked perfectly with Zorin and this new machine until about a week ago. The pair connected now have not been changed, only the computer is shut down and unplugged at the end of the day. These speakers plugs into the headset jack and for power into a USB A (which is where they previously were plugged too). I did check the wires and all good there. The cables are not separate for either pair. Good suggestions though, not stupid at all. thank you
(also, the speakers pop upon turn off and turn on) thank you
I'm unsure which article you mentioned when you said you had found a fix for part of the problem, but here is a post with a few different solutions you can try to see if they solve the problem for you:
In the past it was quite frequently an issue with sleep that I would have, but knock on wood I haven't had that happen to me in recent times, so hopefully that continues.
Hello, it was a Zorin help section post with terminal commands that I followed and it stopped the popping except for the turn on/turn off. The post is: Set Up Sound - Zorin Help under " Audio crackling or hardware clicking" section (I did not undo the command, I left it after that command). I spoke with StarLabs and they suggested it was Zorin tweak for energy savings and could be doing something to the amps in the speakers? I don't have the chat to copy to you exactly what they said... but they said they would contact Zorin about the issue and it could be handled in a subsequent update? thank you
The popping of speakers has completely stopped. I did not do any other adjustments. I did run another Zorin update late afternoon yesterday so perhaps it had a solution in it. I'm grateful to the programming folks! and very much appreciate all the high level help here in the forum. thank you
Glad to hear it's sorted. If there are any other issues, feel free to let us know
