Prevent freezing

it started i think a day or so ago but it was really bad today. Zorin keeps randomly keeps locking up & freezing on me. it felt random, sometimes i'd just be using a firefox, when opening a program, or while i was playing a game. it did always freeze when i opened brave. so i uninstalled it.
i tried following first four suggestions on the zorin help page (Freezing Issues - Zorin Help). i read another forum post to try xorg instead of wayland, so i'm currently testing that. vivaldi seems to be ok for now on the xorg desktop.
i just bought this pc since my old laptop finally died. my old laptop was running zorin too, but it only froze occasionally.
are there other tips to prevent freezing? should i try another distro?

FYI i do have a dual boot with windows 10 but i barely use it (it's also only using 100 gbs on my hard drive).

Are secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS disabled and also fast startup in Windows? If not, please disable them during Linux use.
XOrg is recommended for most users in Zorin 17 but it is not set by default in Zorin core. Wayland often makes problems.

You can also test if it is better when you disable hardware/graphics acceleration in your browser.

I wonder if there is a need to clean out apt and log files. I gave commands I use for the latter here: Using the Terminal Emulator in Linux Distros - #2 by zabadabadoo

You can clean out apt using:

sudo apt clean

sudo apt-get autoremove

But when using autoremove DO READ the output and check you are happy with what will be removed, BEFORE you hit Y

yeah i those were already turned off when i checked the bios. i'll double check fast boot on windows to be sure.

Update: windows 10 updated and turn fastboot back on. So got that fixed
