Re posts about USB SSD HD previously two days ago. I had marked them as solved but I tried to use the drive today and it is empty even though "disks" shows the 1TB HD at one percent. I used it the day of the original post and I was able to read and write to it. With regard to the original posts, I formatted the drive from within Linux specific for the use with Linux. However, "disks" still shows the HD is still ntfs. I did get the confirmation that the drive format was complete. I do not understand. Please see prints attached. Thanks.
OK. Was this drive ever used with Windows at all? My first thought was Bitlocker preventing formatting.
Personally I would try and use Timeshift for Zorin if you have it installed to go back to a date when the external drive was accessible and retrieve any data from it and save it elsewhere.
Then I would download the current version of GParted live .iso (GParted -- Live CD/USB/PXE/HD)
and create a Ventoy thumb drive and copy the .iso to that.
Once launched, unmount the external drive, then format it to Ext4 FS.
Another possible option to retrieve the data is to download the iso for Hiren's Boot CD which uses a WinPE (cut-down version) of Windows 11 and see if you can access the external drive to retrieve data that way first and save it elsewhere.
You have there 2 Partitions. How is the small one on the right Side formatted?
I don't remember what it is or how it was formatted but it came from Windows so should be save to delete. Let me know and I will do so.
Simply click on it and it should be written at the bottom.
