Problems configuring Steam under Zorin

I got Steam installed just as done with Linux Mint. I got my second drive configured using Drives just like Linux Mint
Edit Mount options
Clear the User Session Defaults
Click Okay
Then mount it.

I created my setting for Steam which included going to Library, Add Drive, point to the Games drive, and selecting the SteamApplication folder. However it never shows up in Steam. THIS IS A NO GO FOR ZORIN IF THIS CANNOT BE FIXED.

Now I went through my usual steps of confirmation:
Opened the file browser
Navigated to the Games drive
Selected the root and created a new folder -- it worked.
Selected the Steam folder and created a new folder -- it worked.

As a result the steam application should have full read-write abilities to the Games drive when I add it. The only time I saw this in the past is when the drive was not writable and I had to figure out what was needed to get it accessible. So there is no reason for it to not work now.

Did you install a flatpak of Steam or a deb? Flatpaks are designed to restrict what the program itself can access, regardless of what you yourself can navigate to. If you're using a Flatpak of Steam, you need to grant it access.

The easiest way is to use Flatseal, which you can install from the software store. There's an article on how to use it here:

Assuming you ARE using a flatpak, you'll want to add the path for your steam games to the other files section.

I'm on Mint and Zorin dual boot and found the easiest way to install Steam is to just use the Steam Installer from their website .... never had a problem .... coarse I might be missing something ....

Sounds lilke you install the flatpak version of Steam. You need to set permission with Flatseal if you want to use the flatpak. But the easist way is just installing the .deb file.

Yep, if you are trying to grant drive access to flatpak apps Flatseal is the way to do it indeed. My post on this bellow...

I'm a retired Windows developer. I have no idea what I installed. I went to the application library, saw two entries for Steam (which is stupid) and chose the one that was NOT written by some stranger.
