OK, So I stumbled many attempts to connect VIA WIN11 RDP to Zorin18 Pro. And finally got in. During my session I accidently disconnected. When I went to reconnect I can no longer connect? What the heck?
So I restarted Zorin. Checked the remote settings and nothing changed. So I tried again to connect. I get the credentials and accept them on the windows side and then get error telling me the remote (ZorinOS) is not available on the network. Phooey! I pinged it from the windows box and yes it IS on the network. Yes Remote Login is enabled.
So I am stumped. The Remote Login app on windows does not allow me to send the password only user name.
So I am truly stumped as to where to go from here. Checked the forum but cannot find any information. Perhaps I missed?
On Zorin OS, are you logged in on Wayland? Wayland is the new default on Zorin OS, but it also is not compatible with many Remote Session programs.
You do not state what method you are using for RDP, but this might be the first check point - at the login screen, test Zorin On Xorg
Both are not clearly labeled. The default will simply be called "Zorin Desktop" and the non-default will be marked - for example, "Zorin Desktop on Wayland" or "Zorin Desktop on Xorg". If you see one, you then know what the other is...
I installed ZorinOS 18 Pro and went to the settings for Remote Login and Desktop sharing. Turned them on and set up user/password.
The on Windows 11 ran Remote Desktop. Entered server Name and User Name. No place to set PORT nor password. First time in connected got certificate and was working for a couple of hours before I did something stupid and disconnected. Since then. Unable to connect. So will tackle again tomorrow. I will look deeper into this. Cheers!
RESOLVED
Well this morning my Main Windows PC decided it was going to go into a constant reboot. Ever since the last update on WIN 11 2H25 which forced me to REINSTALL a NEW download of WIN 11 my main pc decided to go into constant reboot this morning. VERY ANGRY and aggravated.
So since I was going to switch over, I DID! SCREW MS!
Then loaded up remnia on both client and my main pc. Works like a charm!
