Hello - When loading Zorin Lite onto an old Win10 system as a single boot, the disc will be erased and Windows will be deleted; should I delete my HP printer and ProtonMail before installing Zorin Lite, or will Zorin Lite automatically recognize and configure these program/apps during install?
Any feedback and advise would be greatly appreciated. (thank you!)
You can't use Windows printer drivers in Linux. During installation of Zorin lite choose >Erase disk and install Zorin OS. Afterwards install the linux hp printer drivers if the printer is not recognized automatically. For Proton mail there is offered a Linux app or you use the browser:
Then is nothing there anymore. So, no Printer Driver or ProtonMail. Your Disc is wiped and Zorin will be installed. Your Printer can be recognized by the System, yes. After the Installation look in Settings>Printer if Your Printer is detected. For ProtonMail look at the Link from @Forpli.
Thank you again Forpli - I do know that HP and Proton both have there own drivers and install software/cinguration for Linux, although as far as I understand Proton does not fully support Zorin therefore, yes, I would have to access Proton through my browser in the interim; I have been exploring Proton's various options for Linux users. (will give it a try)
Thank you for the link to the Proton Mail Linux app set up.
Sounds like a Zorin Lite install will erase whatever it needs to from the disc during install; I don't necessarily have to delete anything manually before installing Zorin Lite. (printer/mail client etc.)
If removing Windows, before you do that, go to Power Settings and turn off Fast Start-up.
Sometimes reported that Fast Start-up interferes with devices, even if not using or have removed Windows.
