Resetting Login Keyring

I have Zorin 16 installed and I have forgotten my password. I am not sure what my User ID is either. When I start the PC, it asks for my login Password and then I am stuck. How can I reset my password? I wish you guys would have a more sophisticated security system. I don't use Grub, so the tip to drop down into the command line does not work for me.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for your interest in my problem. I used Ctrl+Alt+F3 to start the terminal and the first thing it wanted was my user ID and password...

Let me review my problem:

The suggested video assumes that I can actually enter commands without the system requiring my password.

I am thinking I will reinstall Zorin and then restore the backup to get my files. Will that just put me back where I am now because it will overrwrite my security settings?

Yes, when you do a fresh install it is like painting on a blank canvas. Whenever I do a clean install I create a fresh partition table in GParted.
