Resolution locked at 1024x768 after update and reboot

Hello,

I'm using Zorin OS 16 pro on AMD RX580 and 4K monitor and everything was working fine.

Yesterday there was a small software update, I've updated and then power off. Today after powering on, I'm greeted with 1024x768 with no other resolutions.

If I open console and type "sudo modprobe amdgpu", then the resolution changes and I'm back to login, this time at 4k resolution.

Is there any possibility to make this permanent? What did go wrong ...

After running the modprobe, run sudo update-initramfs -u and test. If it is still defaulting back to 1024x768, may need to check your Blacklisted modules or create a file: /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and add the line MODULES=(amdgpu radeon) to it; save and exit.

I had to delete /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-amdgpu.conf and it worked ... I initially looked at blacklist file which was empty. So yes, your solution for removing the blacklisted entry works.

Thank you.
