Screen capture blocking

Hi,

I love the interface of the built-in screenshot/capture tool in Zorin, but..

My entire computer gets stuck after a few seconds.. Often times I need to reboot. Alt-F4, Ctrl-alt-delete, nothing helps. The screenshot above of course does not say much, as the computer is entirely blocked.

When I press the power button, the entire screen flickers like mad. Really strange. Then I proceed to force shutdown. Sometimes I am able to take a screenshot, sometimes. I don't know under which circumstances this happens. Hopefully someone can help?

About my system:

  • NVIDIA Corporation GA106M [GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile / Max-Q] / Mesa
  • Driver installed is: NVIDIA metapackage from nvidia-driver-535 (propietary)
  • system runs on X11/Xorg (''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'')

The built-in screen capture is buggy as hell. It's not recommendable to use. Instead use "GPU Recorder" or "OBS".

If you want a tool with which you can also edit the screenshots (e.g. make markers, blur areas...) you can install flameshot, shutter or ksnip. The integrated Gnome tool often causes problems.

Do You have Fractional Scaling active? If yes, disable it and try it again. Another Option would be to install a different Nvidia Driver and check if it make a Difference. But when everything runs except this ... Could You tell us more about Your Hardware specs? I mean CPU, RAM etc.

And did You take a Look in the Logs when that happens?

The fractional scaling was on indeed. This resolved the issue! Great help, thanks a lot!

SimpleScreenRecorder works for me every time, and its an APT package.
