Hello. I have Zorin OS installed on a 2015(?) MacBook Pro. It works pretty well, but it has this problem quite often where the screen won't stop flashing. Below is a video showing this problem. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you.
Is Your System running in wayland or Xorg? to check that, go to Settings>About and look if there stands Wayland or X11. If there should stand Wayland, try it with switching to X11/Xorg.
To do that, go to the Login Screen (not the Lock Screen). Simply reboot for that. On the Login Screen click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It has to be appeared. When it is appeared, You should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right Corner. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in and test if it works.
Other Things:
- What Graphics Card does the Laptop have?
- When it is Nvidia: What Driver is installed?
- How are Your Resolution and Refresh Rate set up?
- Is Fractional Scaling active?
Thanks for your reply. Changing it to X11 seemed to help a bit, but it's still happening every once in a while. To answer your other questions:
- Graphics card: Mesa Intel Iris(R) Graphics 6100 (BDW GT3)
- Resolution: 2560x1600
- Refresh rate: 59.97Hz (I can't change this).
- Scale: 200%
- Fractional Scaling: Off
Check software update, when it finishes scanning for updates, click on settings, then go to additional drivers tab, look to see if you have a driver in there for your graphics.
I am thinking you may not, if your GPU is integrated Intel MESA. But just for giggles, please check. If you see one for your device, and its not showing checked, please by all means check it, then after it finishes installing the driver, then restart.
Did You tried it with a different Resolution?
Is this the max resolution in zorin ? If you have the macbook pro from 2015 the resultion can go up higher. Did you try the supported scaled resolutions posted on the apple site ? it's possible your gpu cannot use your current one.
