Screen flickering after "updated" to zorin OS 18.1 from 17.1 lite

Hi,
I’ve just ‘updated’ (reinstalled) a very old PC with an AMD Phenom II processor and an ATI HD2400 graphics card, from version 17.1 Lite to 18.1.
The PC has no issues with version 17.1 Lite, but with 18.1 the display flickers, especially with certain programmes such as Brave and Chromium-based browsers; not just the content, but the interface too. If I run Windows 10 via VirtualBox, it works without any problems.
So I think it might be something to do with the drivers.

Is there anything I can do, or is it time to buy a new graphics card or a new computer?
Thank you

It's the best to stay at Zorin 17 Lite with such old hardware. It will still be supported until next year. You can try an older kernel (6.8), but if I were you, I would go back to Zorin 17 Lite.

Just as a start, have you tried disabling GPU acceleration in the browser?

Hi. In respect of your last question, that will depend on how much RAM you have and whether any of it is assigned to Graphics if the card is a built in one.

I have a machine I built in 2006 with a single AMD Athlon 64 processor, 2 Gb RAM, and an EVGA nvidia 512 Mb 8x AGP running Q4OS Plasma with lag, but it is working.
You could give that a try, or try the Aquarius TrinityDE which is what KDE used to look like before Plasma.

I made the old machine use Q4OS third party LookSwitcher app to make it look like Windows 10!
