Screen randomly goes black for a second or two, then comes back

System in question:
HP Pavilion all in one 27-r1xx with 12 GB RAM and i7-8700T processor
Have switched from Wayland to X since installing and first noticing this problem.
Switching to X11 has reduced but not completely eliminated the problem.

Does anyone know if Disabling Panel Self Refresh (PSR) by editing GRUB solve this problem?

  • What Graphics Card do You use?
  • How are Resolution and Refresh Rate in Settings>Displays set up?
  • Is Fractional Scaling active?
  • Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled?
  • If Windows is installed: Is Fast Start-Up in Windows disabled?
