So far I can send audio to the TV on Zorin but not video. Is the problem with the laptop? What is the solution? Ultimately I want to send videos to my TV's on wireless hdmi. Thanks, Joel
This sounds for me a bit contradicting. HDMI is a Cable-Connection and wireless is ... well, wireless, without a Cable.
So, what is Your Setup exactly? You have a Laptop and a TV. And You want connect both?
Does it work with a normal HDMI cable?
If so, are you searching for help finding the drivers for your dongle? Then it would be good if you could specify the exact model of dongle you have.
Think you got a bit mixed up.
I was replying to what @Ponce-De-Leon posted.
Aha ... I never saw something like this. And what do these now exactly?
I only know they are available but I'm interested to buy, so need to do some research.
There's some information on this site.
Well, as a litte Experiment for Fun, I would test it, but to keep it simple, I would use simply a HDMI Cable, hahaha! But of Course I can understand that it can be practical depending how the Hardware is placed in the Room and how much space it has.
IMO, a cable is practical, because it can be had at any given length you require, and as long as you buy a quality name brand, it always works. Wireless adds latency & lag, and like has been said, without drivers, good luck.
My recommendation is to use a cable, choose the length you need. This is how everybody survived before wireless became a thing, and we all did just fine.
Joel, Im assuming you're connected directly right now using HDMI cable and only getting audio, have you tried the HDMI on a different monitor? What GPU /driver are you using?
@Ponce-De-Leon and @Freeway - This is an old gadget. Ive been using this for ten years. I think the first google chromecast came out back in 2015. You two are late to the party
I didn't get an Invitation to the Party. So, technically I'm not too late.
In reality.
You had to be technical in the year 1969 for an invite.
Mine was lost in the post but I pulled a fast one for us.
Ah, that explains it. That was a bit (more) before my Birth. I guess pre-birth Reservation isn't possible.
This song popped in my head when I read your words...
When I was young
It seemed that life was so wonderful
A miracle
Oh, it was beautiful, magical
And all the birds in the trees
Well, they'd be singing so happily
Oh, joyfully
Oh, playfully watching me
But then they sent me away
To teach me how to be sensible
Logical
Oh, responsible, practical
And then they showed me a world
Where I could be so dependable
Oh, clinical
Oh, intellectual, cynical
There are times when all the world's asleep
The questions run too deep for such a simple man
Won't you please
Please tell me what we've learned?
I know it sounds absurd
Please tell me who I am
I say, now watch what you say
Now they'll be calling you a radical
A liberal
Oh, fanatical, criminal
Oh, won't you sign up your name?
We'd like to feel you're acceptable
Respectable
Oh, presentable, a vegetable
Whoa!
Take it, take it, take it, yeah!
But at night when all the world's asleep
The questions run so deep for such a simple man
Won't you please (oh, won't you tell me?)
Please tell me what we've learned?
(Oh, can you help me?) I know it sounds absurd
Please tell me who I am
Who I am
Who I am
Who I am, yeah!
'Cause I'm feeling so logical
D-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-digital
Yeah, one, two, three, five
Ooh, it's getting unbelievable
Right now I am trying to connect my laptop to my TV with an hdmi cable. The TV shows my desktop and the sound works but I haven't got a video to play on the TV. How do I get a video to play on the TV? If I can do that with an hdmi cable then it seems that I could do that with wireless hdmi such as https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Wireless-Transmitter-Receiver-Projector/dp/B0DZNGR5HW/ref=sr_1_1?sr=8-1
- Do you have a dual monitor setup OR are the screens cloned?
- No video to play on TV while there is video playing on your laptop screen? Or no video on the laptop as well?
I would prefer to do this without VLC. Currently I have chromecasts but they have advertising on youtube videos which is annoying and they might not be supported forever. Are dongles such as Amazon.com the answer? I want to send the video from my laptop to my TV similar to chromecast.
I've only used Chromecast but I would lean towards both working in the same way
