SHIFT-PRTSCR config

Zorin 18.1P

I run a 2 monitor setup here, WQHD on DP as 1 and FHD on HDMI as 2. Using SHIFT-PRTSCR results to a extra wide screenshot over both monitors.

Is there any kind of config, to set which screen will be snapshotted?

And when you just use the PRTSCR key and mark the rectangular area of one screen? I don't know if there is a gnome extension for that.

On Zorin Lite with XFCE screenshot; you can select "Active Window Only."
Does Gnome's integrated Screenshot tool have that option?

Yes, but it captures not the entire screen, just a window.

Yeah using 18.1P Wayland, the GUI has a Screen option you can then click the screen to select. But not for hotkeys: Shift PrtSc is all monitors. Shift Alt PrtSc is the active window, not a screen (usefull if a window is partially off screen though!). There is nothing bound for Ctrl for the screenshot tool and I also don't know what kind of command to invoke to add my own bodge. The Zorin Keyboard Shortcuts settings also doesn't have anything of this kind.

There might not be any kind of command line interface for the new screenshot tool, it seems like it is just buried inside of Gnome shell? So maybe I just need to hotkey a different screenshot tool to output in the same folder :(

If you're on x11, you can use flameshot:

sudo snap install flameshot --edge

The key for an interactive screenshot is just the printscreen key. With the interactive screenshot you can select if you want to capture the screen, the window or an area.

If it doesn't work for you, you can e.g. install gnome-screenshot and setup a custom keyboard shortcut.

Thank you, the interactive mode isn't too bad most of the time. It does go poorly with 'always on top' applications. I'll set up flameshot and hotkeys sometime then. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something that was built-in since it seems a strange omission.

For me this fits best, in the majority of games a PrtSc freeze the game. The screen selection in the white menu does a scene screenshot from the game fullscreen and windowed.

Only Shift-PrtSc snaphots both.

For Lutris games i found out, that the second screen can be disabled at game start, so Shift-PrtSC works here too.

Thanks for brainstorming
