If you have an older Nvidia card that relies on older drivers like the nvidia-drive-340, then downgrading the kernel is the correct choice.

Even the 6.8 kernel is newer than the hardware; so having the Latest Kernel on your machine brings nothing new to the table for you.

Could You offer more Details? Describe the Issue and offer Your Hardware Specs please. Also: do You use Zorin 17 or 18?

A downgrade to kernel 6.8 is recommended if you want to use the nvidia driver 470 on Zorin 18.

i use zorin core 18

For this nvidia card the latest nvidia driver is 470. You need kernel 6.8 if you want to use the proprietary nvidia drivers.

Edit: I noticed that I wrote something wrong. I had only found reports about the nvidia gtx 770 and assumed it needs the same driver as the gtx 770m, but as Ponce-De-Leon wrote, the latest driver for your graphics card is the 418 nvidia driver.

Okay, I checked the Nvidia Website for Your Graphics and they name there the Driver 418. If You want use a Nvidia Driver, You would have to downgrade the Kernel. Or You say, You use the Nouveau Driver.
