Should Zorin allow access to Windows files (dual boot)?

When I open Zorin's Files application I can see the Windows side of my HD (Windows 10 was installed first dual mount and is updated).
Using Zorin 18 Pro; it is also updated.

Seems this is a security issue.

Hi and Welcome.

You should be able to see your Windows partition in Files but you need to mount it in order to access it. That said you should never write to where Windows resides. The only safe way is for a separate data partition.

Before you reached that point, you needed to authenticate / log in.
You have access to your own computer and having that access is critical, not a security flaw.

Additionally, being able to see the partition is not the same as having unrestricted access.
As @swarfendor437 pointed out, you would need to further authenticate actions like mounting, read / write and transfer.

Welcome to the Forum!

As I had a Dual Boot System in the Past, I actually used this to have Access to Windows to copy and move File to it.

The Thing is: Only because You see it doesn't mean that it has dirrectly Access. You have to click on it and then You have a little Triangle Symbol there what means that it is connected/mounted. Then is a connection there. And when You click on that Icon, You can disconnect it.

thank you all for the explanation and reassurance.
