Software center isn't working

a week ago everytime I boot to zorin it shows me a notification from the software center says "updates failed" I didn't care alot but today when I try to open the software center it doesn't work
i tried to open it from commands by typing gnome-software and it showed me that
14:26:53:608 Gdk Error flushing display: Protocol error
i tried to reinstall it and it still doesn't work
also when I open the software updater everytime it says failed to download repository information check your internet connection

How is Your Source in Software & Updates set up? Is it set on Main Server or local? When You try updateing Your System in the Terminal with a sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade do You get there any Error's? If yes, which one. Could You post the Output here maybe?

type or paste code here

You have the CD-Rom active ... that shouldn't be. We have to correct that. Please open Software & Updates and go there to the ''Other Programs'' Tab. There is in the first Line this cdrom Thing. Unmark it:

After unmaring it, make a sudo apt update to refresh the Source List.

To solve this Multiple Configuration please go to the File in this Path and open it with Text Editor and post the Content here.

thank you very much I unmarked it and the error line has gone but I still can't open the software center
and sorry but can you make it more clear, which file I should open and in which path

This one:

For the Software Center: You mean the Gnome Software Center not the Software Updater yes? For the Gnome Software Center maybe to end the Process could be enough. To do that open the System Monitor and look at the Process Tab for gnome-software and click on it and end the Process. After that try to open it.

When it still not opens, type gnome-software int the Terminal to open it over the Terminal to see if it in the Terminal give any Error Messages.

If that shouldn't be the Case, You could try to reinstall it with the Terminal Command sudo apt reinstall gnome-software

yes I mean the gnome software sorry for not being clear
it's not like it's working but not displaying...when I click the app it opens then closes again and the process ends
I reinstalled but it's still not working and showing me this

show details button not showing anything

the file you mentioned shows me this

deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.asc] https://packages.mozilla.org/apt mozilla main

deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.asc] https://packages.mozilla.org/apt mozilla main```

Okay, thank You. Then We make this first. Open the Terminal and type this: sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mozilla.list

In the opening Window go to Line 3 and set a # at the Beginning of the Line. Then press ctrl+o to save the Change, Enter to confirm and ctrl+x to close. After this You should be back in the normal Terminal Overview. Type there sudo apt update and the Error should be gone.

For the Software Store:
Okay, there stand that an important Update failed to be installed ... Do You have any System Updates open? Or did You aborted an Update Process?

To get maybe a better Output that this please open the Terminal and type there gnome-software to start it from the Termnal. When there are error Messages please post them here.

it shows me this

05:43:02:280 Gdk Error flushing display: Protocol error

When you type the Command or when You have changed it and run the sudo apt update Command?

when I type

gnome-software

Okay, could You give me the following Info's:

  • What Kernel do You use? you can check that with the Terminal Command uname -r
  • Do your System run in Xorg or Wayland? You can check that in Settings>About. There is a List of Your System Specs. And there You find the Line Window Manager. There stands what You run.
  • Do You use an Nvidia Card?
If yes, what Nvidia driver do You use?

the kernel
6.8.0-40-generic

wayland

yes I use nvidia card
nvidia-driver-550(proprietary, tested)

Okay, thank you. First change to Xorg instead of Wayland. That should work better with Nvidia.

To do that go to the Login Screen and click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It must be appeared! After it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right Corner a Gear Icon. Click on it. And there You get 2 Zorin Desktop Options. choose the one with Xorg and then log in and try if it works.
