Software Updater Not Connecting After Upgrade To 18.1

I upgraded my system from OS 17.3 Core to OS 18.1 Core on April 29. After the upgrade, the system required a "partial upgrade," and subsequently went through two very large updates in the neighborhood of 100-200 MB each. Then, two days later, and for the last two days, Software Updater hasn’t been working properly (I haven't changed any settings). It stops while “Checking for updates,” then gives the error message “Failed to download repository information Check your internet connection.” The internet connection is working fine. If I press “OK,” it says “No software updates are available.” If I press “Try Again,” the cycle repeats and I get the same error message “Failed to download repository information Check your internet connection.” If I press “Settings,” I get the “Software and Updates” window, nothing has changed, (its set to download from “Main Server”) and when I click the “Close” button, I get the message “The software on this computer is up to date.” On one run-through, I got two messages about “failure to update the repository cache.” Then, earlier yesterday, Sat May 2, it worked normally, twice, as it had in the past and then, later in the day, it started acting up like a bratty child again. I also tried "sudo apt update" from a Terminal window and that was also no go. I've attached copies of snapshots.

Here are the final two screenshots.

Hi! Ubuntu has been under attack for 3 days now. Hoping all this gets sorted out soon.

Thanks for the info!

I was afraid that the problem might be in my system.

Now I wonder who might want to launch an attack on Canonical? And especially now since: 1) Linux use has increased by 70% worldwide in the last few years; 2) It's now over 5% of personal use; 3) Ubuntu has the largest market share; 4) Zorin OS 18 has had over 3.3 million downloads since Win 10 end of life; 5) France, Denmark and 5 major PC manufacturers have announced that they are planning to transition from Windows to Linux. And by "cross-border" are the articles referring to malicious international actors?

That is correct.

When You try it now again, it could be work.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't work today (May 4) and now simply stops at the first screen.

Yeah, it doesn't work again. It seems that it wasn't stable. So, we need to have more Patience until it will work again.
