Sofware-Sources won't launch

I tried updating, purging and reinstalling all packages across snap, flatpak and gnome with no luck. I keep getting this error:

$ software-sources /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/requests/__init__.py:89: RequestsDependencyWarning: urllib3 (2.0.4) or chardet (3.0.4) doesn't match a supported version! warnings.warn("urllib3 ({}) or chardet ({}) doesn't match a supported " OS codename: 'focal'. This codename isn't currently supported. Please check your OS release information with "cat /etc/os-release" (identified as VERSION_CODENAME).

Can you please try:

pip install requests

If using pip3, then type that, instead:

pip3 install requests

$ pip install requests Requirement already satisfied: requests in ./anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (2.31.0) Requirement already satisfied: charset-normalizer<4,>=2 in ./anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (from requests) (3.3.0) Requirement already satisfied: idna<4,>=2.5 in ./anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (from requests) (3.4) Requirement already satisfied: urllib3<3,>=1.21.1 in ./anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (from requests) (2.0.5) Requirement already satisfied: certifi>=2017.4.17 in ./anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (from requests) (2023.7.22)

What about:

pip install --upgrade urllib3

pip install --upgrade chardet

sudo apt update && sudo apt install --reinstall software-properties-common

Let's check your /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d directory.
Do you have any non-Focal repositories added? (It would also show in running sudo apt update)

/etc/apt/sources.list

/etc/apt/sources.list.d

You should remove the Mint Daily Builds repository. It is good for a one time installation, but if you run upgrades with that repo added, it can conflict with Zorin System apps.

You should also not have the CDRom: Zorin OS disk enabled as a source unless using it for recovery.

Thanks, didn't change anything though

I just did a net search for the Ubuntu Software Sources app and I cannot find anything that pertains to new information. Rather, the software-sources app was replaced by Software & Updates (software-properties-gtk).

Did you install an app named Software Sources?

Or are you referring to the Software & Updates app?

If you are referring to Software & Updates, run in terminal

software-properties-gtk

and relay the output here.

The command yields the following:

~$ software-properties-gtk
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/requests/__init__.py:89: RequestsDependencyWarning: urllib3 (2.0.4) or chardet (3.0.4) doesn't match a supported version!
  warnings.warn("urllib3 ({}) or chardet ({}) doesn't match a supported "
OS codename: 'focal'.
This codename isn't currently supported.
Please check your OS release information with "cat /etc/os-release" (identified as VERSION_CODENAME).

Can you try (this is not a typo, it really is named python3-certifi):

sudo apt reinstall python3 python3-certifi software-properties-gtk

Same result unfortunately

Did You tried to uninstall the urllib3 and chardet Packages?
