Hello I'm new here, I have recently switched from windows.
I've put a folder with the cursor theme I want to use into /home/[myusername]/.local/share/icons. It shows up on both gnome-tweaks and the native zorin appearance app but when I select it nothing changes. Logging out and back in doesn't help. I made sure that the cursor folder than I am pasting into the icons folder has the index.theme file directly below it. If I use custom program icons (put in the same folder) then everything works fine. Custom shell themes also work fine. How do I get the custom cursor working?
Oh also if I select one of the pre-installed cursor options they also don't change...
Yeah, for some reason that I still don't understand for cursors you need to place them inside ~/.icons. Create that folder if it doesn't already exist.
In Zorin OS 18 this has been fixed as it works fine at the expected location.
WTF are you kidding me, I paid for this Os , and they dont know how to properly set up the cursor!!!! wow Im seriously rethinking my next OS, I have been fighting this stupid cursor size. Seroiusly, you do not leave bugs like that in the system, its an insult
What problem are you having with your cursor? It would be best to start a separate thread and describe the problem in detail. This thread is not about cursor size. You can adjust the cursor size in Zorin's accessibility settings.
Go to settings > Accessibility > Seeing.
If you have different cursor sizes in some apps this can be caused when apps are installed as flatpaks. It maybe can help to install flatseal and to give the flatpaks access to the path of the cursor theme.
