[SOLVED] Custom cursor doesn't change

Hello I'm new here, I have recently switched from windows.

I've put a folder with the cursor theme I want to use into /home/[myusername]/.local/share/icons. It shows up on both gnome-tweaks and the native zorin appearance app but when I select it nothing changes. Logging out and back in doesn't help. I made sure that the cursor folder than I am pasting into the icons folder has the index.theme file directly below it. If I use custom program icons (put in the same folder) then everything works fine. Custom shell themes also work fine. How do I get the custom cursor working?

Oh also if I select one of the pre-installed cursor options they also don't change...

Yeah, for some reason that I still don't understand for cursors you need to place them inside ~/.icons. Create that folder if it doesn't already exist.

In Zorin OS 18 this has been fixed as it works fine at the expected location.
