[Solved] Installation: ? ? error

Installing Zorin OS

Hey. Trying to install Zorin OS. My specs are:

  • Gigabyte H510M H V2 rev 1.0
  • Nvidia GT 710
  • 8GB RAM
  • Crucial 256GB SSD (which I'm pretty confident is non-NVME), and another HDD.
    Previously had Windows.

    I had this same issue when I was trying to install Linux Mint, twice. I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue, but this error barely tells me anything at all. Can someone help here?

Upd: Tried removing the HDD. Didn't change anything.
Nvm turns out I didn't, installation continues fine now! Yay!

Hi, I think it is your graphics card. I couldn't install Zorin 15 with my GT710. I upgraded to a GT1030.

Hey! I removed my external HDD and it works completely fine now. Not an issue with the graphics card thankfully.

Note the GT710 is no longer supported by Nvidia so you may well consider an upgrade to the GT1030.

Why upgrading to an old gt 1030 ? His card can use the 390.xx driver in combination with the 5.15 kernel.

That is really weird because I could not get Zorin 15 or Ubuntu 18.04 to boot on a GT710. I upgraded to a GT1030. Ironically to get PCLinuxOS (rpm Mandrake version) I had to downgrade to a GT440.
