Description:
In Zorin Files v42.6, certain columns in the file manager are not visible or reachable due to an unknown issue. This makes it impossible to adjust or view the attributes of the last columns unless a workaround is applied.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open Zorin Files v42.6.
Enable multiple columns for display in the file manager.
Attempt to access and adjust the last column or columns behind the screen.
Workaround:
Shorten the widths of other columns until the last one becomes visible.
Adjust the one-but-last column accordingly to access the hidden column.
Expected Behavior:
All columns should be visible and adjustable without requiring a workaround, regardless of their position.
Actual Behavior:
The last columns are not reachable without modifying the widths of other columns to bring them into view.
Notes:
This issue significantly impacts usability when working with extended or multiple columns. An automatic resizing mechanism or scrollable column header would resolve the problem.
I'm on Zorin OS 17.2 Core, and my file explorer looks differently. Upon enabling all columns, a horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom of the window view:
I also don't have that same button you do to toggle column visibility. I have access to that using the dropdown menu next to the list/grid view toggle, which leads to a smaller window that scrolls nicely:
Thank you for your response! You’re absolutely right -- there is a tiny bar to move the view, and I completely missed that.
I also wanted to clarify that the list of columns I referred to was accessed by right-clicking on the column header bar. You are correct that the column list can also be selected via the submenu, where the list is scrollable.
I appreciate you pointing out that the plugin is stale. While it might be old, it appears to be quite robust. The issue isn’t that the plugin messes up the columns, but rather that the list of columns accessed through the right-click menu is not scrollable. This limitation exists regardless of the plugin and is more about the implementation of the right-click menu itself.
Oh, sorry, I didn't understood what you meant but I see now; it's showing like that for me as well, when I right-click on the column headers. Yes, this is good feedback.
