So what?
Can you show the terminal output for
ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d
and
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
A third party repository may be causing the dependency conflict. Temporarily disabling it can resolve the issue, if so.

There is an Dependency Issue. It wants install Packages of a specific Version but would install them with a different Version? Did You added any Third-Party Repo's to Your System?
Thank you for the hint.
Guess it is the "project freerdp" entry.
As the weekly backup is running at the moment, I will have to wait a while to let it complete.
A lot of stuff happened these days and I want to make sure, that it doesn't "dissolve".
I will comment it out and try again later today.
I will let you know, how things are going
Good news with my system - I am not sure, if I will try to fix it again.
Fixed that first blocking message with adding some packages around libc++abi1,
then the pre-flight check told me I am ready to go.
So some more checks, and check and test and downloading and pre-install check and install and after a while, it popped up with a message telling me, that it has messed up my system and that I may want to "replace my ZorinOS".
Check the help page. That help page is not helpful, as it just suggests to trash my disk and start over from zero (with the option to restore my backup then).
Well ... that message lingers in my head now.
Thank god, I have my backups in place (and can access the files).
Two options (I will not try this evening, because I am a bit sick, but try to get ready for work tomorrow:
#1: Move on with ZorinOS
- Create a stick with ZorinOS 18 Pro (still flashing in the background, as I write that message.
- add a new harddrive to my rig and perform a fresh install of 18 Pro
a) mount the old home folder from the old disk and extend it to the max.
b) copy the home folder to the new users home, hoping it will not trash my new install with unneeded stuff.
#2: Do what the error message suggested and replace ZorinOS
Maybe I look for another option to get my stuff done.
The gaming part is already on another PC and this one is my office PC.
So no more need for emulators, wine and fancy stuff.
A neat little basic distro should do the trick.
Office, printing and nextcloud-connection.
We will see ... time to shutdown the PCs and let the situation sink in until tomorrow after work.
We will see tomorrow.
With LTS editions, Libc is a highly sensitive package base.
Making alterations to Libc will generally break the system.
I can only speculate that you were trying to change system packages in order to meet the demands of a much newer software release.
If you like, you can say what that software is and we can look for options that are not destructive.
Or, if you absolutely need a late release of some software - you could try a Flatpak package for that software.

I received a lot of errors about python3 dependency errors and qt5.
I performed a fresh install und will restore my home.
First, I tried to get the old system up again, but the networkmanager ran into errors and I was not able to get the system online.
Seems, like the network connection got broken in the later installation process.
The system is running and when I start it in 'init 3', I am able to log in and work on the console promt.
Is there a installer logfile stored somewhere?
I keep the disk for a while and I con mount a USB-drive and copy the log-files over.
