Sound stops working after a while on iMac 27" (late 2015) - Trying Zorin OS

Hi, I'm new here and I'm trying Zorin OS 17 on a late 2015 iMac 27", running it from a USB3.0 flashdrive to test if I like it. So far I really do.

It runs fine, with sound working but at a certain point in time while exploring Zorin OS the sound stops working and I cannot get it back.

Sound control has been set to internal speakers. Rebooting will solve the issue. I have been googling and find older topics that mention similar problem, also on other distro's but no clear solution that works for me.

It, of course, can be a issue with trying out Zorin running from a USB drive but before whipping my macos I like to get some more information if the problem will be gone when installing it on de HD.

A couple of questions:

(1) Does the problem I'm experiencing sound familiar?
(2) Is it related to running Zorin OS from a USB drive?
(3) Will installing Zorin OS 17 on the HD and running it as the only OS on the machine solve the issue with sound disappearing?
(4) If the answer to question 3 is "no" do you have any recommendations on how to proceed with Zorin?

As said I really like Zorin as it straight forward, I have the intend to purchase PRO to get the additional desktops.

You could try Pulse Audio Volume Control. This is a Tool for set up Sound Output and Input. You can install it with the Terminal Command sudo apt install pavucontrol

When installed open it and go to the Output Tab. There click on the Marker for Your prefered Output, then make a Reboot and test if it works.
