Sound suddenly stopped working correctly in Zorin OS 18.1

Hello.

I have good sound when playing an mp3 in Rhythmbox, but when I am watching a YouTube video in Brave browser the sound is different it is difficult to hear it is not as clear and loud as it is in Rhythmbox.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Using Brave A.I. search engine via Mojeek gives:

" The most common cause for no or low sound in Brave on Linux is that the application is muted or misconfigured in the system’s audio mixer or PulseAudio/PipeWire settings.

Primary Fix: Check System Volume Mixer

  1. Play audio in Brave.
  2. Open your system sound settings (e.g., Settings > Sound in Ubuntu/GNOME or the KDE Plasma volume applet).
  3. Locate the Applications tab or volume mixer.
  4. Ensure Brave is not muted and its slider is set to 100%. If Brave is missing from the list, restart the browser while audio is playing.

Secondary Fixes:

  • PulseAudio/PipeWire Reset : Open a terminal and run pavucontrol . Go to the Output Devices tab to ensure the correct device is selected and not muted. You can also restart the audio server by running pulseaudio -k (for PulseAudio) or restarting PipeWire.
  • Brave Internal Settings : Navigate to brave://settings/content/sound and ensure Sites can play sound is enabled.
  • Conflicting Audio Streams : If using USB audio devices, ensure Brave is routing to the correct sink. Use pavucontrol to manually move the Brave stream to the desired output device.
  • Reinstall/Reset : If issues persist, remove conflicting installations (e.g., Snap vs. native) and delete ~/.config/BraveSoftware before reinstalling the latest version.

Hi!

I am using PipeWire

I reinstalled Brave and deleted ~/.config/BraveSoftware.

Thank you!
